Canadian Museum of Civilization Bag

We were recently commisioned to create an original quilled bag for the Canadian Museum of Civilization in 2003.

We were very excited about the project and came up with a bag that would be true to the Great Lakes style and yet have some basic elements of the St.Lawrence people. The iconography is a combination of the thunderbird, salmon and sky dome motifs. It is now in the permanent collection of the museum in the Woodlands department."

"The War that Made America" a P.B.S. Presentation of the French and Indian War

This year we were hired to work on the new PBS movie "The War That Made America" being shot spring 2004 in Pittsburg, PA. We are doing quilled knife cases, quilled bags, slit pouches, headresses, roaches, matchcoats, legging, moccasins, breechcloths, cradleboards, bark containers, warclubs, etc for the project. Here are some of the quilled pieces we've finished so far.

Being as most quilled material is from the later 18th century we are looking at the earliest stuff and taking those major design elements and using them in this work. If you are a student of this style of work you may recognize some. We will post more pictures as we project progresses.
